Transport
arrangements are provided by
Sheffield Community Transport, a local company who
are a subsidiary of the city council. They provide two
minibuses to bring children to the Study Centre and to
take them home afterwards. Each bus is staffed by a
driver and escort who are fully police checked. Staff in
the Study Centre are kept up-to-date with what is
happening on the minibuses and are alerted of any
problems that may arise. At the start of term, pupils
will be asked to sign a contract agreeing to a code of
good behaviour whilst using transport provided for them.
We expect all pupils to act in a sensible manner on the
minibus, and to wear their seatbelts at all times.
Transport
is paid for by the Study Centre, although we do ask
schools for a contribution towards this amount at the
end of each term. There is no cost to the pupil or
parent.
Primary
pupils are picked up by Sheffield Community Transport
straight from school and brought to the Study Centre for
3.30pm. At the end of the
session, they are picked up on the minibus and taken to
their home addresses. Secondary pupils are collected
between 5.00pm and 5.30pm at designated pick-up points. This route is usually
decided on parents’ evening. The minibus will aim to
collect children at convenient locations close to their
homes (we usually ask them to wait at bus stops or
outside specific buildings or shops so they are easily
identifiable to the minibus drivers). Again, they are
picked up by the minibus at the end of the session and
taken to their home address. Pupils’ addresses are
provided before the start of term by their school.
If pupils
need to be taken to a different address to the one the
school has provided, we ask them to bring a note
detailing this change. This note should be seen by both
the driver and the Centre manager.
