There are now 100 Playing for Success Study Support Centres in England. The scheme first began back in 1998, involving only 3 Study Centres based at Premiership football clubs (Newcastle, Leeds United and Sheffield Wednesday). Now there are many different sports involved in the scheme, including football, rugby, cricket, tennis, ice hockey and basketball.
