additional learning support officer, who will rotate around the
other study centres (Sheffield Wednesday and Sheffield
Sharks) along with Rob.

Football
Maths at Sheffield United (Jan 2006)
The study centre has been running special
football maths days. Small groups
of pupils from local primary schools have been learning all
about the way the football club uses maths to help it make
money. The days included trips to the superstore, quizzes, kit
and merchandise design as well as how to use spreadsheets.
Pilot Really Takes Off! (Dec 2005)
The new team at the centre have successfully
completed a pilot program which showcased the future of the
Playing for Success initiative in Sheffield.
Arrivals
and Departures... (Sept 2005)
Many changes took place at the study centre in 2005. Mike Reid
(Centre Manager) and Emma Needham (Learner Support Officer)
moved on, Mike moving to a job within the football club working
with the academy squad and Emma leaving to return to university
to gain a teaching qualification. This meant fresh faces
appeared in the study centre. India McKellar is the new centre
tutor and Rob McPherson is the centres learner support officer.
Playing for Success Sheffield also has a new co-ordinator, Rob
Walker who will over see the running of the three Sheffield
study centres.
