Mentors/Mentoring
Enjoy working with kids?
Like a challenge?
Ever wanted to work in a classroom
that was a little bit different?
Sheffield United Study
Support Centre is looking for volunteer mentors to help
deliver an exciting program of after school activities.
Based at Sheffield United F.C. the programme is aimed at
helping young people to improve their Literacy, Numeracy
and ICT skills.
Mentoring
is not just about helping the pupils achieve there best,
its also about getting the most from the experience for
yourself. Mentoring can help you develop vital skills
which employers want, it may help you decide if you
really want a career in education or it may give you the
edge over other students when applying for teaching or
education degrees.
Our current mentors come
from a range of backgrounds and all have different
levels of experience. We currently have Sheffield
College, Sheffield Hallam University and Sheffield
University students as well as mentors who currently
work in education as teachers or teaching assistants. We
also have volunteers who do not have education
backgrounds but have a few hours a week to spare. Your
age, experience and shoe size don't matter, all we ask
is that you are enthusiastic.
If you are
interested and can spare an evening or two a week,
contact us using the information below or download our
online application form and send it back to us by email
or post.
